KDL Midgets made it through a very tight second round. After edging St. Walburg / Paradise Hill in game 1 by a score of 4-3 at home, the Prairie Thunder travelled to Paradise Hill for game 2 on Saturday in the Thunder Bus. After getting down by a goal, Michael Cholin opened the scoring for the Thunder with a high shot from the point. After a fast first period the Thunder were up 3-2, then 4-2 after a very physical 2nd, and finished up 6-3 to win the series by a 10-6 total point. 3 points by Quenton Murphy and Stephen Schraefel with a goal and 2 assists each, 2 points from Todd Chotowetz, Riley Anderson and Lane Neumeier and single points from AshtonTetzlaff, Ty Neufeld and Braden Olsen rounded out the scoring for KDL. Cameron Olsen stood tall in the net for game 2 and Dylan Honecher kept the goals against at bay in game one.
Saturday night the Thunder put away the Maidstone Jets 8-2 after 2 periods and the Jets did not return to finish the game. Thunder take round one total point series with a score of 15-3. Thunder move on to the next round.
Prairie Thunder finished the season playing the Battlefor Blues on Friday night and skated to an 11-0 win over the shell shocked Blues to finish the 20 game schedule with an 18-1-1 record and first place overall.
